KALAMAZOO, MI — After six years at the helm of the Black Arts & Cultural Center, executive director Sid Ellis announced he will be leaving the organization later this week.

Ellis has accepted a position with Kalamazoo’s Colleague International, an organization that, according to its website, “facilitates international exchange programs to further adult professional development in business, education, government, and health and human services.”

His last day with the BACC will be May 9.

The BACC has started the search for a new executive director. In the meantime, BACC board member Yolonda Lavender will act as interim director.

The BACC’s major summer event, the Black Arts Festival, will be held July 24-27 at Bronson Park.
