BLACK ARTS FESTIVAL
An Annual Cultural Celebration
Black Arts Festical (BAF) is a public arts and cultural festival founded and run by the Black Arts & Cultural Center of Kalamazoo. Since 1986, the festival has hosted artists from across the globe and brought hundreds of businesses to the downtown area — creating a cultural destination in our community.
Throughout the festival, BAF showcased the artists’ talents alongside musicians, local artists and many other community organizations.
BAF is made possible by the support of it’s planning team members, partners, sponsors, board members, volunteers and community.
We encourage you to take photos and share them with the world by using #BAFKZOO .
Gail Sydnor Artistic Development Grant is funded through annual fundraising & grants to develop artist of color in Kalamazoo. The grant is designed to support individual artists in their endeavor to develop themselves and their art through projects or professional development. Attention is paid, and weight is given, to the artistic merit of a project, or how a professional development opportunity will help further an artist’s career. There are two separate categories for this grant: Professional Development and Project Support.
